The problems of the area of Porto Romano which is suffering from the chemical pollution has drawn the attention of the foreigners.

50 students from South Korea and Japan, members of Family Federation which is an organization that has its representative also in our country, have realized the cleaning of the roads and draining channels in this area that is considered the most polluted due to the chemical industry on 80-s in Albania.

Some days before starting their job, students visited this area and got a strong shock from the situation there, considering the fact that families have to face everyday the pesticide.

Except their cleaning they also offered a certain number of computers and materials helping the middle school there.

The people of Porto Romano appreciated the significant act of these young people.

Around 100 students from South Korea and Japan together with some young people from Albania have worked to remove the garbage from Porto Romano.

In ten hours they removed some quintals of rubbish in co-operation with the inhabitants living there.

The ones, who have been the mean of motivation for this project, are the young people living in Porto Romano.

In this project were built up three concrete containers.

The job of these young people was a strong appeal for the inhabitants to take care and keep clean their environment.

Students offered two basketball boards and 6 computers for the students of the middle school “Met Hasa”.

Another purpose of these students it was to call the attention of different international organizations to help in cleaning of this coastal area.

21.6.2005 | SOT (Today): The Koreans clean Porto Romano

What was not done by the responsible organizations and institutions paid by the Albanian government, it was done by a group of forty students from South Korea.

They came here to help with cleaning of one of the most polluted areas in our continent.

Jung, a student of the third year on the science of politics in Seoul University told that this area is marked in all maps of the world as a very polluted one. He told that he had been facing a similar situation in some area of Belorussia. He expressed the sorrow for the small children that have to grow up in such an environment.

The initiative of these students was embraced also by 20 young people from Albania. They worked together and removed from Porto Romano around 2.5 ton of rubbish.

Students were taken aback to see the ecological catastrophe of Porto Romano, how some children were distorted and how the fields were poisoned due to this catastrophy.

They have also offered 10 computers for “Met Hasa” middle school.
